The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jordan, in collaboration with the management of the Classic Fashion Apparel Industry Ltd. Co., MAS Al Safi, and ARK Garments Manufacturing Industry in Jordan, showcased Sri Lanka's rich cultural heritage through a series of traditional dance performances at the 40th Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, held on 31 July 2026 at the historic Ancient City of Jerash.
The Embassy presented five traditional Sri Lankan dance performances, featuring the country's vibrant artistic traditions and colourful costumes and highlighted the diversity and elegance of Sri Lanka's cultural heritage.
The Jerash Festival is one of Jordan's most prominent annual cultural events, held in the historic city of Jerash. The 40th edition of the festival took place from 23 July to 2 August 2026. The festival was officially inaugurated on 23 July 2026 under the patronage of Prime Minister of Jordan, Dr. Jafar Hassan. It featured more than 212 Jordanian, Arab, and international cultural events, including concerts, dance performances, poetry recitals, theatrical productions, art exhibitions, and traditional folklore shows that highlighted the cultural heritage of Jordan and other countries.
The Sri Lankan dance performances left a significant impression on the large and diverse audience that had gathered to celebrate cultural diversity through dance, music, and the arts. The performances added vibrant energy to the festival and served as an excellent platform to promote Sri Lanka's rich cultural traditions and strengthen the longstanding cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Jordan.
