Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, participated as the Guest of Honour at the Grand Final of the Gemports Award 2026 – The Vivid Legacy, held on 15 August 2026 at the Event Hall, Jewelry Trade Center, Bangkok. The event was attended by former Deputy Prime Minister General Sonthi Boonyaratglin, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Thapanee Kiatphaibool, as well as distinguished guests, industry leaders, designers and representatives of the international gem and jewellery community.

The event brought together jewellery designers from Sri Lanka, Thailand, China, Russia, the Philippines, India and Malaysia, with more than 250 entries submitted for consideration. Finalists competed across seven categories, showcasing their creativity and technical expertise through hand drawing, digital drawing and 3D CAD, ranging from emerging young designers to professional-level participants.

Chairman of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority of Sri Lanka Dr. S.P. Chaminda also attended the event as a member of the jury for the selection of winners of the jewellery design competition.

The event also recognised the winners across all seven categories and acknowledged the finalists for their creativity, dedication and contribution to the development of jewellery design on the international stage.

The event was established to strengthen networks, cooperation and collaboration among designers, industry professionals and stakeholders across the global gemstone and jewellery industry. The participation of designers and industry representatives from several countries reflected the growing importance of such platforms in promoting creativity, innovation and international cooperation within the industry.
