The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta successfully celebrated International Tea Day at the Sri Lanka Residence on 21 May 2026, with the participation of Ceylon tea distributors in Indonesia, representatives from the hotel and restaurant sector, officials from the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, members of the Indonesian Tea Board and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, tea lovers, and media representatives. The event, organized under the guidance and patronage of the Sri Lanka Tea Board, was supported by PT David Roy Indonesia and CV Aneka Semesta Nutrisindo, the current marketers of Ceylon tea brands in Indonesia, namely Dilmah and Stassen, respectively.

Welcoming approximately 70 guests to the event, Ambassador-designate Sashikala Premawardhane highlighted the uniqueness of Ceylon Tea and explained how the tea industry has evolved since 1867 to become the world’s fourth-largest tea producer and exporter. She further noted that Ceylon Tea has significant potential to penetrate the Indonesian market, considering the country’s strong tea culture.

A mocktail demonstration using Dilmah Tea, conducted by a team from PT David Roy Indonesia, attracted considerable interest from the audience. An information booth by SriLankan Airlines, along with tea products from Sri Lankan tea brands Basilur and Mlesna, were displayed together with artisanal tea products from AMBA Estate Sri Lanka, Rosyth Artisan Teas, and Serene Tea Gardens.

At the conclusion of the event, PT David Roy Indonesia and CV Aneka Semesta Nutrisindo treated participants to a variety of teas and mocktails prepared using the Ceylon tea brands (Dilmah and Stassen) that they currently market in Indonesia.
