The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Toronto, in partnership with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), showcased Sri Lanka as a premier travel destination at the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies and Travel Advisors (ACTA) Eastern Travel Industry Summit, held on 9 September 2026 in Toronto.
The annual ACTA Eastern Travel Industry Summit brought together approximately 500 travel agencies and travel advisors from across Eastern Canada for industry discussions, networking and a travel showcase, providing an important platform for destinations to engage directly with Canadian travel professionals.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Pavilion at the ACTA Summit attracted more than 80 travel advisors, who expressed strong interest in Sri Lanka and its diverse tourism offerings. Travel advisors highlighted the growing interest among Canadian travellers in Sri Lanka as an attractive long-haul destination, noting that increased destination promotion and greater awareness could further encourage travel from Canada to Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka’s participation at the Summit formed part of the Consulate General’s ongoing efforts, in partnership with the SLTPB, to strengthen Sri Lanka’s presence in the Canadian tourism market and increase awareness among travel trade professionals.
As part of this broader tourism promotion programme, the Consulate General of Sri Lanka is organizing a Sri Lanka Pavilion at Salon International Tourisme Voyages (SITV) in Montreal, to be held from 30 October to 1 November 2026, in partnership with the SLTPB. The Pavilion will feature 12 Destination Management Companies (DMCs) from Sri Lanka, providing an opportunity to showcase Sri Lanka’s diverse tourism experiences directly to Canadian consumers and travel industry stakeholders.
