The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu together with the Sri Lankan community residing in Nepal, organized a Vesak Dansala on 30 May 2026 at the Embassy premises in observance of Vesak Day.

To mark this auspicious occasion, the Embassy premises were adorned with Vesak lanterns and decorative lights, creating a serene and festive atmosphere for devotees and visitors.

The programme commenced with religious observances conducted by the Maha Sangha, followed by traditional alms offerings to the Venerable Theros prior to the Dansala.

During the Dansala, traditional Sri Lankan refreshments and delicacies were served to visitors and passers-by. The event was further enriched by the playing of Sri Lankan Buddhist devotional songs, which added to the spiritual and cultural ambiance of the celebration.

The programme received enthusiastic participation and appreciation from the public, with approximately 600 people being served during the event.

The successful organization of the Vesak Dansala reflected the values of compassion, generosity, and unity espoused by the Lord Buddha, while also fostering cultural understanding, friendship, and goodwill among communities in Nepal.
