In a historic milestone, the iconic Sydney Opera House Concert Hall successfully hosted “Rhythms of Lanka”, a premier musical celebration promoting Sri Lankan culture and tourism on 23 August 2026.

Presented by Lanka Events, a division of Yasiru Multimedia Pty Ltd, in association with TV Derana, the concert served as a foreign currency-earning initiative for Sri Lanka. The event also showcased Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage to international audiences and the Sri Lankan diaspora in Australia.

The production was supported by Home Lands, the Main Sponsor, whose corporate patronage helped bring Sri Lanka’s leading contemporary musical talent to one of the world’s most prestigious stages.

The evening featured an acclaimed lineup of Sri Lankan musical artists, including Rookantha Gunathilaka, Kasun Kalhara, Kanchana Anuradhi, Chitral Somapala, and Janani Amathma. The artists were accompanied by a live orchestra under the musical direction of Sugath Hettiarachchi. The event was officially photographed by Sagara Lakmal De Mel.

Underscoring the event’s diplomatic and community significance, Deputy High Commissioner for Sri Lanka to Australia Wishwanath Aponsu attended the concert, which brought together music, cultural heritage and Sri Lanka-Australia fellowship.
