The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brussels, in collaboration with ‘SL Cricketers in Belgium’, organised the Ambassador’s Cup 2026, a five-over, six-a-side softball cricket tournament, for the second consecutive year. The tournament was held on 12 September 2026 at the Wemmel Cricket Ground in Brussels, Belgium, with the participation of members of the Sri Lankan community in Belgium and Luxembourg. Six teams from Belgium, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Malta took part in the tournament.

Welcoming the participating cricket teams and members of the Sri Lankan community, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU, Chandana Weerasena, highlighted the significant role cricket has played in showcasing Sri Lanka to the world and strengthening the country’s identity and international presence through sportsmanship.

The tournament brought together the Sri Lankan community in Belgium and neighbouring countries through cricket, strengthening connections and promoting unity and togetherness.
