The new United States Ambassador-designate to Sri Lanka, Eric Meyer, met the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington D.C. on 20 August 2026 at the Embassy, prior to his departure for Sri Lanka.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on the longstanding and multifaceted relationship between Sri Lanka and the United States and to discuss priorities for further strengthening bilateral ties.
Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington D.C., Wickramarachchi,briefed Ambassador-designate Meyer on recent developments in Sri Lanka and the Embassy’s ongoing initiatives to further strengthen relations in the political, economic,defence, security and educational spheres.
Ambassador-designate Meyer appreciated the updates provided on Sri Lanka and reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Government of Sri Lanka to further advance the strong partnership between the two countries.
