Sri Lanka joins the International Seabed Authority (ISA) in commemorating the International Day of the Deep Seabed 2026, under the theme "One Thousand Reasons: Discover. Share. Use."
As an island nation, Sri Lanka recognizes the importance of advancing scientific knowledge, promoting data-sharing and strengthening international cooperation to deepen our understanding of the ocean and support the sustainable and responsible stewardship of the deep seabed. Sri Lanka reaffirms its commitment to ocean governance grounded in science, international cooperation and the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
