Embassy of Sri Lanka celebrates Poson Poya Day 2026

In commemoration of the Poson Poya, the day that Buddhism was introduced to Sri Lanka by Arahat Mahinda Thero, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing organized a traditional Dansala at the Embassy premises on Thursday, 2 July 2026. 

 

Sri Lankan delicacies, Ceylon Tea and the leading beverage brand Elephant House soft drinks were served to Sri Lankan community, visitors and passers-by in a spirit of generosity and compassion, reflecting Sri Lanka's cherished tradition of sharing. 

 

The Embassy premises were elegantly decorated with colourful lanterns, Buddhist flags and lights recreating the peaceful and festive atmosphere of Poson experienced in Sri Lanka. The Panadol placed at the entrance to the Embassy which depicts the “Sanda Kinduru Jathaka” story was admired by all the attendees, including Chinese nationals.

 

This successful event united diverse communities fostering cultural understanding and goodwill.
