The Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Minister of Kerala Shri V. D. Satheesan on 16 July 2026.

During the meeting, both sides discussed avenues to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Sri Lanka and the State of Kerala, with particular focus on tourism, trade, investment and economic collaboration.

The Deputy High Commissioner highlighted the proposed visit of a 40-member Sri Lankan delegation to Kerala to explore opportunities in the spices sector and to study value-addition techniques. The Chief Minister also proposed a reciprocal delegation from Kerala to Sri Lanka to explore opportunities in the coconut-based products sector and related value-added industries.
