The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta welcomed a visiting delegation from the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) of Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, at the Embassy premises as part of their International Collaborative Study Programme. 

Welcoming the delegation, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN Sashikala Premawardhane provided an overview of the longstanding, friendly, bilateral relationship that exists between Sri Lanka and Indonesia and the 75-year milestone in diplomatic ties that will be celebrated in 2027. She underscored the importance of defence diplomacy, strategic dialogue and practical cooperation in addressing emerging regional challenges.

Commenting on Sri Lanka's growing engagement with ASEAN, Ambassador Premawardhane highlighted ASEAN's continued role in promoting regional peace, resilience, connectivity and inclusive cooperation. 

During the interaction, the delegation received a briefing from the Minister Counsellor (Defence) on the expanding defence partnership between Sri Lanka and Indonesia, highlighting military training exchanges, ongoing defence diplomacy initiatives, institutional cooperation, and recent high-level engagements between the defence establishments and armed forces of the two countries.

The visit also provided an opportunity for a discussion on regional strategic and security developments, as well as avenues to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

The DSCSC delegation is undertaking a 14-day International Collaborative Study Programme in Indonesia from 27 July to 9 August 2026, with engagements scheduled at several Indonesian government, defence, academic, and regional institutions, including the ASEAN Secretariat.
