At Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi, on 14 July 2026, the Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka, Sunil Handunneththi, held productive meetings with Union Minister of Textiles of India, Shri Giriraj Singh and Minister of State for Textiles & External Affairs of India, Shri Pabitra Margherita.
The discussions focused on strengthening India–Sri Lanka cooperation in the textiles and apparel sector, promoting investment, enhancing value-chain linkages, and expanding opportunities for trade and industry collaboration, as well as capacity building.
With a globally recognized apparel manufacturing sector, a strong reputation for quality, sustainability and ethical production, and longstanding commercial partnerships with India, Sri Lanka is well positioned to further deepen collaboration across the textile and apparel value chain.
As one of the world's largest integrated textile events, Bharat Tex 2026 brings together industry leaders, manufacturers, buyers and innovators from over 130 countries, providing an important platform to foster partnerships and explore new opportunities for international cooperation.
