The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Nihal Rodrigo, a distinguished Sri Lankan diplomat and public servant who served as a former Secretary of the Ministry and as Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Rodrigo rendered invaluable service to Sri Lanka, contributing significantly to the advancement of the country’s foreign relations and to regional and multilateral diplomacy. His commitment to public service, diplomacy and regional cooperation will be remembered with deep respect.

The Ministry extends its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this time of profound sorrow.
