Calm Waters, Rising Tide: Stability as the Foundation for Indian Ocean Growth

High Commissioner Mahishini Colonne delivered a public lecture at the India International Centre, New Delhi, on 10 July 2026, at the invitation of the Centre for Peace Studies, chaired by Dr. Ashok Behuria.

The High Commissioner spoke from Sri Lanka's perspective as an island nation at the very centre of the world's busiest maritime corridor - one that has lived through the consequences of instability and rebuilt, through the strength of trusted partnerships. She reflected on the Indian Ocean's centrality to global trade and energy flows, Sri Lanka's emerging role as a maritime hub, and the importance of building stability in the region.
