The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in New Delhi received the President of Empowerment, Kumar Vikas Saxena and Riya Sharma on 08 July 2026 at the High Commission premises. During this meeting they handed over to the High Commission, five paintings created by Indian artists during the Lotus Roots India–Sri Lanka Artist Project, an initiative supported by the India–Sri Lanka Foundation that brings together artists from both countries to foster dialogue, friendship and cultural understanding through art.

These art works will serve as enduring reminders of the creativity and warmth that underpin the close ties between India and Sri Lanka. The High Commission looks forward to the next phase of the Lotus Roots project, when Sri Lankan artists will travel to India—hopefully next year—to continue this inspiring journey of artistic collaboration and cultural exchange.
