Sri Lanka’s  Ambassador to Djibouti presents credentials

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union Commission  Sumith Dassanayake who is concurrently accredited as Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic  of Djibouti  presented his credentials to President  Ismail Omar Guelleh on 05 November 2018 at the Presidential Palace in Djibouti.

During the discussion that followed the presentation of credentials,  the Sri Lankan envoy conveyed greetings from the President  and the Government of Sri Lanka the President of Djibouti.

Ambassador Dassanayake also briefed President Guelleh on the opportunities available for bilateral trade, tourism  and investments in Sri Lanka. The President of Djibouti expressed his  satisfaction on the current status of relations between the two countries  and indicated his desire to consolidate them  further, extending to  new areas   of cooperation for the benefit of two nations.

During his visit to the Republic of Djibouti,  Ambassador Dassanayake had fruitful meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf,  senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and  the President of  Djibouti Chambers of Commerce. The discussions centered on further strengthening trade, economic  and bilateral relations between the two countries.

This is the first time that a Sri Lankan Ambassador presented Credentials in Djibouti since Sri Lanka established formal diplomatic relations with the East African nation in 2015.
