The annual "Winternational" Embassy Showcase provides a platform for  Embassies to promote culture, culinary traditions, handicrafts, visual art as well as travel and tourism exhibits from different countries among the US citizens and diplomatic community in Washington DC. This year’s event featured 61 Embassies and was attended by large number of visitors. This is the 7th consecutive year in which the Sri Lanka Embassy participated in the annual "Winternational" Embassy Showcase.

The Embassy booth, which was decorated with Sri Lankan banners, colorful sceneries etc, projected Sri Lanka as an attractive  tourism destination and showcased a range of products including Ceylon Tea, spices, handicrafts, gift items and traditional handicraft.

Ambassador Rodney Perera, under whose initiative the Embassy made renewed efforts and strong commitments to promote economic diplomacy and enhance trade, investment and tourism in the US, visited the Embassy booth and joined the staff in serving Sri Lankan food and sweetmeats to the visitors lined up outside the booth. The visitors to the Embassy booth also enjoyed Sri Lankan delicacies and pure Ceylon tea. They were also presented with giveaway tourism promotional material received from Sri Lanka Tea Board and Sri Lanka Tourism. Over 800 people visited the Embassy booth.

Sri Lanka’s participation at this event was coordinated by the Commercial section of the Embassy in Washington DC.
