Sri Lanka hands over Ceylon tea for TDPs

ISLAMABAD: The government of Sri Lanka on Wednesday extended humanitarian relief assistance for the temporary displaced persons (TDPs) of North Waziristan Agency and has donated 14 cartons of Ceylon tea to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

On behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, the relief was handed over by the Sri Lankan High Commission Air Chief Marshal (r) Jayalath Weerakkody to Member Operations NDMA, Brig Ishtiaq Ahmed here at Sri Lankan High Commission. Director Response NDMA Lt Col Raza and AD Logistics NDMA were also present on the occasion.

Member Operations NDMA appreciated the Government of Sri Lanka for its concern and generosity as this gesture was a symbol of strong ties between the two countries. The commissioner also lauded NDMA for its role during various disasters across the country. The relief will be handed over to concerned authorities for further distribution amongst the TDPs.
