The Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai, Dr. Ganesanathan Geathiswaran, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puducherry, Shri N. Rangasamy, on 12 June 2026.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Sri Lanka and the Union Territory of Puducherry, particularly in the tourism sector. The Deputy High Commissioner highlighted the significant potential for increasing tourist exchanges and strengthening people-to-people ties through improved connectivity between the two destinations.

The Deputy High Commissioner explored possibilities for expanding collaboration in higher education, including partnerships between Sri Lankan universities and educational institutions in Puducherry, particularly in the field of medical studies.

The Chief Minister welcomed these proposals and expressed his support for initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation and build closer ties between the people of Sri Lanka and Puducherry.
