The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Rome participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Sri Lanka Pavilion at TuttoFood Milan 2026, one of Europe’s leading international B2B food and beverage exhibitions held on 11 May 2026 in Milan, Italy.

The Sri Lanka Pavilion was jointly organised by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Milan with the objective of promoting Sri Lankan products and enhancing trade and commercial partnerships with the Italian and European markets.

Twelve (12) Sri Lankan companies participated in the exhibition, showcasing a wide range of Sri Lankan food and beverage products, including Ceylon tea, cinnamon, spices, coconut-based products, rice varieties, dehydrated fruits and vegetables, and other value-added food products.

Prior to the inauguration, Ambassador Satya Rodrigo addressed the participants at a dinner hosted by the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Milan, Dulmith Waruna, on 10 May 2026. In his remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the long historical links between ancient Sri Lanka and Italy and the global trade that Sri Lanka had with the outside world. He noted that Ceylon Cinnamon had been one of the most treasured ingredients used in some of the oldest recorded food recipes dating to 1730 BCE. The Ambassador appreciated the role that the companies were playing to showcase and bring many of Sri Lanka’s unique products to Italy and their contribution to strengthening Sri Lanka’s economic and trade diplomacy and expanding the presence of Sri Lankan products in the European market. He also commended the efforts of the Sri Lankan exporters participating in the exhibition and encouraged continued collaboration between Sri Lanka’s diplomatic missions and trade institutions to promote the country’s export sector internationally. The Ambassador, Consul General and staff of the Consulate General had an interaction with the company representatives and exporters and exchanged views of opportunities and strengthening market presence in Italy and other countries.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of the Embassy, officials of the Consulate General, representatives of the EDB and Sri Lankan exhibitors.

The Sri Lanka Pavilion highlighted the country’s growing export potential, rich agricultural heritage, and commitment to international quality and sustainability standards.

Sri Lanka’s participation at TuttoFood Milan 2026 from 11-14 May 2026 reflects the continued efforts of the Embassy and the Consulate General to strengthen economic cooperation and expand market access for Sri Lankan exporters in Italy and across Europe.
