Emergency Response Unit (ERU) functions as a coordination mechanism for emergencies. This unit facilitates and supports emergency-related processes, upon requests from Sri Lankan missions/offices abroad, working closely with field units and relevant government institutions to ensure timely and effective assistance.

The main functions of the Emergency Response Unit include:

• Coordinating emergency-related requests from Sri Lankan Missions/Offices through the relevant field units.
• Liaising with relevant national institutions and stakeholders to facilitate assistance and obtain necessary approvals/clearances.
• Ensures smooth and timely exchange of information among Missions, field units, and government agencies during emergencies.
