Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Chathuranga Abeysinghe, conducted an official visit to Custom Denning’s electric bus manufacturing facility in St Marys, Sydney, on 17 August 2026.

The visit aimed to observe advanced zero-emission transit technology and explore potential avenues for industrial collaboration, technology transfer, and advanced manufacturing.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Wishwanath Aponsu. The delegation was received by Managing Director of Custom Denning, Scott Dunn, Chief Operating Officer, Daniel Bale, and Financial Controller, Niro Bandara.

The engagement followed preliminary discussions facilitated by the Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra during the official visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism, Vijith Herath, in June.

The visit underscores the growing diplomatic and trade interest between Sri Lanka and Australia.
