President commends Sri Lankan expats

"All Sri Lanka expatriates would stand with the motherland and the President against the resolution against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC in Geneva", a group of Sri Lankan expatriates yesterday told President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The group of Sri Lanka expatriates made these observations in a call conference with the President at the International Centre for International studies at Nalanda College, Colombo 10 which was declared open by the President yesterday. They said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his response commended the Sri Lankan expatriates who loved their motherland and wished for its unity and prosperity though they lived far away from the country.
A student from the Wembadi Ladies College,Jaffna who joined on behalf of her college via the call conference facility in a discussion with the students of Ananda College on the same occasion, said that the introduction of this facility is helpful for strengthening ties between the North and South.
The President participated as the chief guest at the ceremony to open renovated Nalanda College grounds, new primary section building with six modern class rooms, primary section entrance, Centre for International Studies and junior computer laboratory worth of Rs 45 million. The grade 3-C class in which President Mahinda Rajapaksa studied was developed as a junior computer laboratory.
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Principal of Nalanda College J H M W Ranjith also spoke on the occasion.
