Embassy facilitates academic collaborations between the Sri Palee Campus and Randolph College, Virginia

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington D.C. is pleased to witness the fruition of yet another successful academic collaboration initiated by the Embassy which has paved the way for a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Sri Palee Campus of the University of Colombo and the Randolph College, Virginia, USA.

The discussions on a possible academic collaboration was initiated subsequent to the visit of Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the United States Mahinda Samarasinghe to the Randolph College in February 2025. A group of academia and students of the Randolph College undertook a visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025 as a familiarization tour and to explore avenues for establishing academic collaborations with the Sri Lankan universities. Given the academic interest was mainly focused on Arts stream, the Embassy connected the visiting team with the Vice Chancellor of the Peradeniya University and the Rector of the Sri Palee Campus.

The Sri Palee Campus has informed the Embassy of its recent signing of the MoU with the Randolph College. Recognizing the support extended by the Embassy, Rector of the Sri Palee Campus Prof.Prathiba Mahanamahewa has mentioned that “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Hon.Mahinda Samarasinghe, Ambassador, for taking the initial steps to facilitate this collaboration from day one”.

Randolf College, Virgina, established in 1891 as Randolph-Macon Woman's College and became co-educational in 2007, is currently a leading performing arts higher education institution in the United States.
