Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Australia, Wishwanath Aponsu, attended the prestigious Cambrians Gala Dinner Night 2026 as the Special Guest on Saturday, 25 July 2026, at The Grand on Princes Reception Centre in Mulgrave, Melbourne.

Organized by the Prince of Wales College Old Boys’ Association (Australia), the landmark event brought together the Sri Lankan Cambrian diaspora across Australia in commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the founding of Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa, and a broader legacy of 350 years of educational tradition rooted in the institution's heritage.

A distinguished alumnus of Prince of Wales College, Acting High Commissioner Aponsu, launched the new official website of the Prince of Wales College OBA Australia. In a poignant tribute to his alma mater, Acting High Commissioner Aponsu joined fellow alumni of the School Drama Team on stage to perform a dedicated song honouring the legacy of late Tissa Gunawardena.

Addressing the gathering, the Acting High Commissioner delivered a speech paying tribute to the late Maestro Tissa Gunawardena, former Drama Master at Prince of Wales College. Acting High Commissioner Aponsu highlighted the futuristic artistic vision of the late maestro, emphasizing how his wisdom infused Sri Lankan cultural, political, and economic insights into his theatrical works while instilling critical thinking and artistic discipline in generations of students.

President of the PWC-OBA Australia, Jayalath Fernando, alongside the executive committee, expressed deep appreciation to the Acting High Commissioner for his presence, noting that his participation served as a source of pride and inspiration for the Cambrian community in Australia.
