Middle East and Africa Division

Description of Division / Areas of Work:

The Middle East and Africa Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinates activities related bilateral Political matters, multilateral issues, Economical, trade, Cultural, tourism, education and social, investment promotion matters under the purview of the Middle East and African Regions and coordinate and facilitates incoming and outgoing bilateral visits and meetings.

 1.Territorial Coverage – Middle East Region

Sri Lanka has established formal diplomatic relations with 14 Middle East countries.

Out of the 14 States in Middle East Region Sri Lanka has established twelve (12) resident mission Embassies and 2 Consulates General.

Out of the 54 sovereign States in African Continent Sri Lanka has established formal diplomatic relations with 43 countries as of date and awaits concurrence from another 11 countries.
