Sri Lanka was promoted as a vibrant destination offering a blend of rich history, eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, mesmerising landscapes, pristine beaches, dense forests and majestic mountains, inviting Chinese travellers to visit, explore and experience the island.

Twenty Sri Lankan destination management companies and hotels, together with Sri Lankan Airlines, 146 Chinese travel agencies, tour operators, MICE players and 20 media outlets attended the event.

Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings were conducted between Sri Lankan tourism industry representatives and Chinese travel and tourism enterprises, facilitating direct engagement and exploring potential business partnerships to enhance tourism exchanges. Traditional Sri Lankan cultural performances were also held, showcasing the country’s rich artistic heritage and vibrant traditions.

The roadshow was attended by Minister (Commercial) Chandima Kiriwandala, Minister Counsellor Sumudu Wilpatha and Second Secretary Isuri Vitharana of the Embassy. Deputy Director (Marketing), Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chinthaka Liyanaarachchi, addressing the gathering, emphasised the growing demand for travel between China and Sri Lanka, which would contribute to increased people-to-people exchanges and enhanced economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
