On the invitation of the Embassy of Vietnam and the Nhan Hoa Pagoda, the Vietnamese Buddhism Centre in Poland, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Poland, Priyangika Dharmasena participated in the Vesak day Celebrations on 31 May 2026, with the Ambassador of Vietnam to Poland, Dr. Ha Hoang Hai.
The street leading to the Nhan Hoa Pagoda was adorned with trails of Buddhist flags and inside the temple was abundant with brightly coloured fresh flowers, brought by devotees to worship Buddha. The Celebrations included singing of Buddhist hymns, Dhamma talk, prayers and scripture chanting, spiritual dance performances and offering donations to the priests. The most significant aspect of the occasion was the ceremonial bathing of the infant Buddha with scented, blessed water.
Ambassador Dharmasena in her short remarks at the event, acknowledged the spiritual and community feeling in worshippers who had gathered at the temple faithfully showing their devotion on the occasion of the celebration of the birth, the enlightenment and the passing of Buddha.
The ceremony ended with an almsgiving to devotees, emphasizing elements of compassion and generosity in Buddhism.
The Vesak Day, also observed by the United Nations, gives international recognition to the contributions made by Buddhism to global spirituality and peace. The occasion represents shared religious values while also embodying the diverse cultural characteristics and traditions of each nation.
