Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Anil Jayantha Fernando, is undertaking a visit to the Republic of Indonesia to attend the 5th Annual Southeast Asian Forum on Export Control (SEAFEC), which is being held in Jakarta from 16–18 September 2026.

The Forum is co-hosted by the Republic of Indonesia and the United States of America as part of Indonesia’s Strategic Trade Management Summit (IDSTM 2026). Minister Fernando attended the opening ceremony of the Forum on 16 September 2026, which aimed to promote regional dialogue on strategic trade management (STM), with a thematic focus on semiconductor manufacturing and supply chain security, dual-use goods, AI and emerging technology threats, and critical mineral and rare earth supply chain security.

On the sidelines of the Forum, he also met with Indonesia’s Trade Minister, Budi Santoso, and discussed matters of mutual interest, including bilateral trade relations between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

The meetings were also attended by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN, Sashikala Premawardhane; Controller General of Imports and Exports of Sri Lanka, T. T. Upulmalee Premathilaka; and Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta, Nilanthi K. Pelawaththage.
