High Commissioner meets the Vice Chancellor of Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad, Professor Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne (Rtd.) met with Vice Chancellor of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU), Professor Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, on 09 June 2026 to discuss avenues for strengthening educational cooperation and the examination collaboration between the two nations.

 

During the visit, Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaspal, along with the University Registrar, warmly welcomed the High Commissioner and identified education as a pivotal sector for strengthening bilateral ties.

 

While acknowledging the existing framework of academic collaboration between the two countries, Prof. Jaspal emphasized that further joint efforts are needed to fully realize the potential of these exchanges. He also fondly recalled his visit to Sri Lanka in 1997 to receive the Kodikara Award in recognition of his contributions to research strategy studies.

 

High Commissioner Senevirathne expressed his sincere gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for the warm hospitality and for facilitating the productive dialogue.

 

The High Commissioner was accompanied by the Head of Chancery, A. Christy Ruban.
