The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Warsaw celebrated the International Tea Day on 21 May 2026 at the Embassy premises with a ceremony to showcase the world famous ‘Ceylon Tea’ and promote its premium quality.
The occasion, designated by the United Nations, was commemorated in a tea-party atmosphere, with 02 Polish tea companies, namely HerbatyCzas and dzbanherbaty and a journalist from the company. The room was decorated with tea banners, pictures of regional teas, plantations and also showcasing some tea brands of Sri Lanka.
While celebrating the event, HerbatyCzas a teashop and dzbanherbaty, an online tea shop, mainly importing tea from East Asia, were encouraged to increase sourcing tea from Sri Lanka.
The ceremony commenced with a promotional video on “Ceylon Tea”, followed by a presentation with colourful illustrations, made by Ambassador of Sri Lanka, Priyangika Dharmasena on “Ceylon Tea”, underling its history, its ethical ozone-friendly production methods, the regional teas with their distinct characteristics, health benefits of tea, the lion logo and value -added tea products while highlighting renowned “Ceylon Tea” brands of Sri Lanka, established in Poland, including “Dilmah, Basilur, Sir Adabert’s Tea, Mabroc and Thurson Tea.
Subsequently, a tea discussion ensued, around a tea table with serving of “Ceylon Tea” to the guests, together with complementary traditional sweetmeats, partaken joyfully while Ceylon black tea was served.
A table with a row of the seven regional teas of Sri Lanka, brewed and poured into glass containers were exhibited and the diverse flavours were also explained at the event and the packets of tea to the participants were gifted to encourage consumption of Ceylon Tea.
