The Embassy in collaboration with Sri Lanka Community organizations arranged a series of events at the Embassy to commemorate Vesak in Oman. It included a dharma deshana, erection of a Vesak Pandol, Blood Donation Campaign and a free Medical Camp for migrant workers and Vesak Dansal.
Ambassador W.A.K.S. De Alwis addressing the large gathering of Sri Lankans on Vesak Poya day at the Embassy premises referred to the significance of Vesak and also cautioned the community about several social evils spreading among the Sri Lankan community particularly the drug menace. He advised parents in particular to be vigilant about their children.
The Week-long Vesak programme culminated in a Bakthi Gee recital by Children of the dhaham pasala and a sangika dana organized by Embassy staff for members of the Maha Sangha visiting Oman for the weeklong Vesak Celebrations.
