The event brought together the participation of tea importers, distributors, representatives from leading Supermarket chains, hospitality and Wellness sectors and the print and electronic media.

The event was organized to promote Ceylon Tea and highlight Sri Lanka’s rich tea heritage, quality standards, and innovation in the global tea industry. The programme commenced with video messages from the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, Hon. K. V. Samantha Viddyarathna, and the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tea Board, followed by a presentation on the global journey of Ceylon Tea and cultural performances by the Shasthra Dance Academy.

Delivering the opening remarks, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Shanika Dissanayake, underscored the importance of the tea industry to Sri Lanka’s economy and highlighted the global reputation of Ceylon Tea for its quality, purity, and flavour. She also emphasized the significance of the Lion Logo as a geographical indicator and symbol of authentic Ceylon Tea, while referring to this year’s International Tea Day theme, “Sustaining Tea, Supporting Communities.” The Ambassador further briefed the invitees on the growing international demand for premium and artisanal teas.

A presentation on Ceylon Tea was delivered by the Minister of the Embassy, Madhuka Silva, highlighting Sri Lanka’s distinctive tea-growing regions, tea varieties, and quality assurance standards. Guests were served Ceylon tea-based mocktails and Sri Lankan short eats. A Dilmah Tea Mixology demonstration featuring innovative tea-based mocktails prepared using premium Ceylon Tea was also conducted during the event.

The Embassy showcased a curated range of artisanal teas provided by the Sri Lanka Tea Board from Amba, Kaley, and Rosyth Estates, as well as products from Sri Lankan tea companies including Heladiv, Imperial Tea, Tea Tang, and Akbar Brothers, which are yet to enter the Bahrain market.
