The Sri Lanka Festival in Tokyo, organized by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Tokyo in collaboration with Japanese and Sri Lankan Business Organizations, as an annual event for the 08th consecutive year was held at Tokyo’s Yoyogi Park on 10 - 11 September 2011 under the theme “Visit Sri Lanka: Land of Peace and Tranquillity”.

The Annual Sri Lanka Festival 2011 showcased Sri Lankan products, culture, food and investment and trading opportunities at more than 80 trading stalls and attracted around 100,000 visitors. It provided the Japanese an opportunity to experience a taste of Sri Lankan culture.

The festival included a Dance performance of the “Channa – Upuli” Troupe and the Musical Performance of Bathiya and Santhush Group.

At the Festival, a 2-minute silence was observed by the Sri Lanka Ambassador to Japan, Admiral (Rtd.) Wasantha Karannagoda and the staff of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Tokyo in remembrance of the victims of the Earthquake and Tsunami, which struck Japan on March 11, 2011.
